PRSA: Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center had an unusual story to tell in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing. Not only did the hospital treat victims – the last one discharged almost two months later – it also treated the two suspects. Coping with intense media interest – and incredibly tight security to keep patients separate from the surviving bomber – required a strategy that led to an invitation to address the 2013 Public Relations Society of America International Conference.

Feeding the Beast: Coordinating a strategy to highlight the diverse communications needs of an academic medical center with a three-part mission to promote clinical, research and educational excellence is a unique challenge. I spelled out how I met about the task as the speaker at the annual Tony Swartz-Lloyd Media Grand Rounds at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The lecture was created to honor the much-honored and respected former Vice President of Public Affairs.
